If you’re wondering what exactly the keto diet foods are, here is some information. First of all, we have our favorite “energy drinks”, Mountain Dew, Slim Fast, and Green tea. These drinks are loaded with sugar, which is not good for you and will cause you to crave more sugar! When you drink your drinks, be sure to take your maximum daily allowance of drinks… no more, no less. This will keep you in a positive energy cycle and help you lose weight quickly.
While we’re on the subject of sweets, I’d like to introduce you to some “sugar-free” snacks. Since the Atkins Diet requires you to cut out all processed sugars, this is an excellent option for those trying to follow the plan. You can find fruit options such as applesauce, sherbet, and yogurt with sugar-free syrup that you can put into a syrup scraper, if you so choose. Many fruits that you can eat are high in both sugar and fiber; for example, bananas, grapes, peaches, pears, apples, and pears. Try these for a few weeks to see if you enjoy them and wish you could eat them every day!
For our second type of food choices, we have fatty fish and oils. While the diet itself does not require you to eliminate fatty fish or any types of oil, it can be a good idea to eliminate them from your diet, particularly if you are already having health issues or heart problems. Also, many of the oils on our fried foods and meat contain harmful fats that are bad for our bodies and can lead to high cholesterol. Be sure to eliminate as much fat from your diet as possible and focus more on the oils and protein in your food choices.
Finally, our last group of food choices would be vegetables and fruits. This is probably the most controversial of all our choices. Fruits and vegetables are both great for our health, so it can be tempting to simply stay away from them. However, in order to get enough vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants, you need to consume several servings of fruits and vegetables each day, so this should not be a hard thing to do for most people.
Now that you have the basic knowledge of what foods are considered to be Net Carbs, you can start calculating the amount of each of those foods you will be eating. Remember, the calorie count is always the bottom line when you are working out; however, you must also factor in your quality of these foods when trying to lose weight. The best things to eat include fresh vegetables and fruits, preferably organic and/or whole fresh. Also, be sure to use high quality meats such as organic poultry and lean beef for protein, which can be found at the higher end of the market.
There are some minor exceptions to this list of foods you should be adding to your diet. For example, you should never completely eliminate dairy products from your diet because they are great sources of calcium. Also, you should avoid avocados but you should eat a relatively large amount of fresh vegetables and fruits each day. Keep in mind that while this diet will help you lose weight, it will take time for you to be able to keep the weight off. You may find that in the first couple of months of your diet, you gain back the weight that you had lost.
